Book Reviews Keep Me Going

Book Reviews Mean So Much

What follows are the two reviews for my humorous eBook “Hard Hat Dazed” on Amazon. These two reviews were the wonderful breeze that my writing sailboat needed in order to move forward with confidence. Never doubt that your reviews matter. I can assure you that they matter more than you will ever know.

Book Description

The construction site. What goes on there? What are the people like? What are they saying?

From the safety of your Kindle, you will join Richard as he reveals the real meaning of construction terms, explores strange eating habits and dress codes and visits after-hours recreation haunts.

In this Kindle short read, the humor of construction work is brought to life by someone who has lived in that world. If your idea of a good time is to swap stories around a campfire with Mark Twain, Patrick McManus, and Dave Barry, then this ebook is right up your alley.

Where is the Hard Hat?
ByUncle Frank on October 22, 2017
I found no mention of one of my favorite job site requirements: the Hard Hat. No matter if it was a beautiful sunny day and no one else in sight on a 26 acre “future site” of a mega sky-scraper office building. “ Hard Hat Required” was the rule. I enjoyed every page of this little dissertation. Brought back fond memories of “job quals” (qualifications) and other trivia. Like the need for a tutor to get past the math that I RARELY used beyond my apprenticeship days. And the day I got my license. Management chose to give me a $100 bonus, a promotion of two pay grades and a “written record of an oral warning” for attendance (I had to take a day off to take the final exam). Those were the days!

Farley’s satirical sense of humor comes through in spades. Anyone that has ever had any exposure to the construction trades will find this easy reading book hilarious. Even those that have not been in the trades will enjoy Richard’s “tongue-in-cheek” view of the construction industry.

His style of humor is reminiscent of the late, great George Carlin. I’d like to see more of his writing – especially a book about his days in the Navy!
