Today I discovered just what a great organization WordPress.com is.
When I first started this blog through WordPress.com it was on their free plan and I had a site address of richardfarleyauthor.wordpress.com. Not long afterward, I reacted to one of their email ads suggesting I change to the paid plan so that I could have a site address of richardfarleyauthor.com.
Without doing my usual research I made the switch but soon discovered a couple of things I didn’t like. First was that I was still restricted from using plugins on my site and plugins can often improve a site a lot. The second thing was that I was still prevented from modifying the HTML code of my site in order to make improvements for Search Engine Optimism, an important issue for improving traffic.
Needless to say, I was angry and felt deceived. However, after a couple of days of grumbling to myself, I realized that the fault was my own. I should have done more research.
Not knowing what to expect I contacted WordPress.com and expressed my desire to cancel the subscription and get a refund. Much to my amazement they responded immediately, gave me a refund and seamlessly changed my site back to its original format.
It is refreshing to deal with a company that is quick to respond and agreeable.
