How ironic. A writer at a loss for words when creating an About page. So, instead of trying to figure out what I want to say about me, I’m going to pretend that I am answering your questions about who I am.
What defines me? Well, I would have to say my sense of humor. I have always enjoyed making people laugh. Sometimes that desire has gotten me into trouble. Like the time in first grade when it was my turn to be the bathroom monitor. Instead of keeping things orderly I chose to make the bathroom experience funny by instructing everyone to; “step right up and shoot the bubbles.” Needless to say, I was impeached the very first day, but my sense of humor was undiminished.
Years later in high school, I was known as the class clown and often called, “gripe” for entertaining classmates with a steady barrage of humorous complaints about just about everything.
Later still while in the Navy and then as a construction worker in civilian life I learned to use my sense of humor as a coping mechanism for the daily frustrations of brutal work. It was during these construction years that the idea for my first humorous book was born; “Hard Hat Daze, Honky-Tonk Knights.” The book practically wrote itself with the constant crazy people and their antics inspiring me almost daily.
When I retired I discovered that my life had an abundance of free time and an acute lack of money. The natural choice was to revive my writing, dust off those old notebooks and get them out into the world. Thanks to the availability of self-publishing markets and the software to turn rough notes into ebooks I was able to format my first ebook and publish it on Amazon.
I still dabble with some of my hobbies, like wood carving, painting, and torturing plants, but my “non-profit publishing” efforts to make some money take up most of my time.
I am blessed to have a wife, son, and daughter who are my best friends. Don’t even get me started about how great my five grandkids are or we will be here all day.
Well, so much for not knowing what to write in this About Page, huh?
I hope you enjoy your visit to this site and you will return often.
